Having issues with creating a QT GUI and other Applications
-
Hey Folks, just was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this issue I am having..
When I go to File<New File or Project, and the template screen comes up, I am not getting all of the features that I should be getting? Basically, I wanted to test out a QT Gui application, however, I don't have an Applications tab under the New(Template) screen, which is where QT Gui Application is located, along with some other templates.. I will post a pic of the issue..

The templates that are available depends on the Qt versions installed. It you have no Qt set up in Creator, then it won't offer to create Qt applications.
Check Tools > Options( > build and run) > Qt versions. Are the versions you expect there?
If you want to test an existing Qt Gui application, then try to open file or project and click on the .pro-file that is provided by the application.

Ok- I went to Tools, Options > Build and Run > Qt versions, and this is what I got.. :

I am not wanting to test existing Gui applications, I would like to develop my own gui applications. I have searched all over online, and I haven't been able to find a solution. I downloaded it to my linux VM and it worked like a charm, and then I re-downloaded it for my Windows 7 VM and it didn't work there, either. Is it a windows 7 issue?

A new version was released today, I think.. Maybe it was just that version? I am installing the new one currently.

nope, it didn't work, I don't have any templates still. What is wrong with this application?

As Tobias wrote - you need to add Qt version and a corresponding tool chain.
Take a look a those links to see how to do it:

Ok- I added the qmake and everything, now It is just telling me I need a compiler. Does QT come with a compiler?
-
No it does not. You need either MSVC or mingw - depending on what Qt was build with.
