QMake's destiny
-
Over a year ago Marius posted two blogs:
"To make or not to make and beyond":http://labs.qt.nokia.com/2009/10/12/to-make-or-not-to-make-qmake-and-beyond/
"To make or not to make and beyond redux":http://labs.qt.nokia.com/2009/10/14/to-make-or-not-to-make-qmake-and-beyond-redux/Since then I've been rather interested in what is happening there, but never have I seen an update on this. Is any progress made in the decision making or has this whole issue been postponed?

You first link is broken. It has "<br>" in it.

I wish qmake could make Makefiles in more traditional way. I mean, everybody got used to make install DESTDIR=/path, however, this will not work if you use qmake for Makefile generation.

Fixed the link. It was linked to by the second article as well.
It would indeed be good if qmake would generate standards compliant Makefiles. But that would probably be something for after they have decided whether to continue using qmake or switch to something else...

By the way, Franzk, are you a CMake fan?

I'm not particularly a fan of a specific build system, but CMake seems to be usable in most cases I come across.
