[SOLVED] Qt Creator 2.4.1, Qt 4.8.0 in Win7 can't build debugging helpers...
-
Hi,
I have two versions of Qt currently in my computer, they were built with win32-msvc2010 x86. The versions are 4.7.4 and 4.8.0 and using Qt Creator 2.4.1
With 4.7.4, when I go to the Tools -> Options... Menu, in the Build and Run section, in the Qt Versions tab, I have manually added both versions of Qt.
With 4.7.4, in the bottom menu for building the debugging helpers, all build buttons except gdb are enabled so I'm able to build them correctly, but for 4.8.0, none of the buttons are enabled and the legend says "Not needed" on any of them.
I correctly built Qt Declarative and everything, I used the exact configure command for building both versions of Qt.
The command is:configure -platform win32-msvc2010 -debug-and-release -opensource -mp -plugin-sql-sqlite -qt-zlib -qt-libpng -qt-libmng -qt-libtiff -qt-libjpeg -plugin-manifests -qmake -phonon -multimedia -webkit -script -scripttools -declarative -declarative-debug -arch windows -qt-style-windows -qt-style-windowsxp -qt-style-windowsvista -qt-style-plastique -qt-style-cleanlooks -qt-style-motif -qt-style-cde -no-qt3support -openssl -I C:\OpenSSL-Win32\include -L C:\OpenSSL-Win32\lib\VC
Can someone help me see why I can't build the debugging helpers for 4.8.0? Why is it not needed? is there anything else in the release notes indicating that there is not a qmlobserver or debugger anymore and it's integrated?
Thanks!

The debugging helpers for gdb on Windows do not have to be compiled anymore as they are Python based nowadays (sincce Qt Creator 2.0 I think).
However, configure -platform win32-msvc2010 will not use gdb for debugging, but cdb, which you can get as part of the "Debugging Tools for Windows".

Thanks, I see that it's integrated in it, I've been building my own helpers in Qt Creator until 2.4.0, I guess that 2.4.1 now has them automatically, I just didn't see it in the release notes.
