Hello everybody, I looked around the forum and couldn't really find any help, so I'm starting this topic.

I'm running a freshly installed QtSDK on Win7. The installation is 1 month old, at most.

My problem is the following: when I want to run any project on the Simulator, the latter is not starting and I get the following message all the time.

bq. Waiting for reply from simulator timed out
Invalid parameter passed to C runtime function.
Invalid parameter passed to C runtime function.

And I get a useless popup about Microsoft Visual C++ runtime... I do not have VC, I use the normal MinGW version... so I'm a bit confused here.

The projects I'm trying to run both contain Qt C++ and QML/JS. One of them also includes some stuffs from the QtMobility framework. Both projects are valid, they compile, no errors, they run on my PC at work, they used to work here, but they do not run anymore.

Does any of you have an idea how to solve this issue?

I remember the simulator was working on July 18th, because I had to show my project to someone else, and I used my laptop. So here is what I just did:

I tried removing the MS Visual C++ 2010 Runtime which has been installed through the updates on August 10th, it did not change anything.

I tried removing the MS Visual C++ 2008 Runtime which has been installed through the updates on July 20th, it did not change anything.

I re-installed both runtime, that didn't change anything either.

I'm kinda in the blur now, I really do not know what can be wrong... Could it be the current version of the simulator which is not working? ... Must unlikely I assume...

Did you install a new version after July 18th?

If you did not touch the simulator installation, it is very likely a problem with some other components you have changed after that date.

Hi kaohnig, thanks for your reply.

I didn't update the SDK at all after installing it. So the simulator version was still the same.

The only thing which changed is my Win7 since it is frequently updating. Hence my second message in which I explained that I removed all Visual C++ Runtime updates which occurred after the 18th.

I'm currently remembering that I installed few days ago new ATI drivers for my GC. I will try removing these, maybe it changed something somewhere. I'll keep updating on my status.

Certainly it is not for completely sure, but it looks really this is apparently not a simulator problem.
The constant updating of OS versions and other SW is sometimes really a nightmare. You never know the exact status of your own system.
I started to have complete separate mirrors of my HD somewhere. It has been the last anchor for reverting to a performing system in the past. However, this advice is probably too late in your case anyhow :-(
            Good luck !

Well, this is still not working... So I guess next step will be once again to do a fresh installation of Windows... I'm sooo... happy :(

Hopefully, that will solve the problem... This time, I'll be careful...
