Server down just now ?

Hi ProfRivkin,
The site has been up all the time, and the downloads work too.
Based on your text it looks like you can load pages?Could you describe your issue more clearly, so we can figure out what the problem is.
-
No. The basic website is up but when you go to download anything, you get timeout errors and "Connection Closed" after about 4 meg.
Same goes for trying to install Qt 5.2 from the WebInstaller. It starts loading QtCreator packages, gets about 4 meg in and quits. The datarates are horrible even then as this takes about a hour just to get 4 meg. The best datarate I have seen after doing this for a full week 5 times a day is 1kbyte/s. Most of the time it sits there at 0bytes/sec.
Please dont insult people again by saying its working when we are all seeing it not working. I have 5 other people around the globe who are also trying and no-one has been able to pull anything successfully. -
Try to keep civil, no one is insulting anyone. Just trying to figure out what the issue is.
Downloads just work for most people out there (including me, which I stated). With current download rates I would be drowning in bug reports if there was a global problem.
Please try clicking the small info link after the download and try another mirror that you will find on the page that opens. Also if you don't mind, tell me what the info page is suggesting as the closest mirror, it probably is the cause of the problem.
-
Telling people things work when they dont is very insulting.
What mirrors? There is no information on Mirrors and no "small info link"
-
Downloads work OK on my side.
ProfRivkin the issues I recall that some people used to have are these:
- slow downloads in Australia
- download problems in Iran (legal problems)
Are you in any of those countries, perhaps?
-
From what I am seeing online, people are trying to report these problems but as I stated before, the Contact Us page on the website is not working so your not even getting the reports.
We have people in Seattle, SF, New Jersey , London, and Israel and trying and failing to get downloads or the webinstaller to work.

Based on the reply I am guessing you are behind a company firewall? Can you try a direct connection to the internet and see if there is a difference?
On the "downloads page ":http://qt-project.org/downloads after every download item there is a small link entitled (info). By clicking on that you get to a mirror list page (for "example":http://download.qt-project.org/official_releases/qt/4.8/4.8.5/qt-win-opensource-4.8.5-mingw.exe.mirrorlist ). Where you can see where your download is coming from and all the other mirrors you can try. Can you try one of the other mirrors or the server directly?
As for the contact-us form, it is working, as I can see mails coming in.
So apparently it isn't working for you, and I would like to know why, so we can fix it.- You can get to the contact "us page":http://qt-project.org/contact ?
- You see the form and the green submit-button?
- What happens when you fill in the form and press submit?
-
ProfRivkin,
Read http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/36351 for details about slow downloads, and for different solutions on how to work around the issue.
-
No company firewall. Direct from peoples homes.
I went to the downloads page (which is not the main concern here which you keep missing) and the info word links to an error (timeout) just like the file itself.
Once again, I have (and we have all shared without issue via Google Drive) the WebInstaller file. So that is just FYI, not our particularly problem.
What is the real problem is that the webinstaller can not complete (gets to about 8% and fails every time after hours of trying.
How does one set the mirror for the webinstaller? I see no option for this. -
We are still waiting for this to be fixed. It is really annoying that nothing has been done.
Again, the contact-us page come up and if you press Submit, nothing happens at all or you get a "Server Error" message with no details.
But that is not the main problem (still not fixed), of downloads going to 0.00 bps for hours and never completing from the WebInstaller.
Again I ask, how do you find mirrors and point the WebInstaller to them online? The referenced article was not a help at all as the links are not current and not really want is needed.
If you wont fix the WebInstaller, then why not fix the offline installers so you can have BOTH Android and Linux installations in one Qt development environment? its really non-sense that Qt, meant for cross platform use, can only install for 1 target platform at a time. -
Again, the contact-us page come up and if you press Submit, nothing happens at all or you get a "Server Error" message with no details.
I will defer to the web team regarding this.

I agree that the solutions listed are sub-optimal, but they are definitely working solutions. I followed Workaround #3 and pointed my web installer to a different mirror.
why not fix the offline installers so you can have BOTH Android and Linux installations in one Qt development environment? its really non-sense that Qt, meant for cross platform use, can only install for 1 target platform at a time.
You can already install both Android and Linux packages in different directories, using the offline installer. The only (minor, non-blocking) inconvenience is that you get two copies of Qt Creator, but you can ignore one copy and use the other to develop for both platforms.
Then, when the fixed web installer comes out, you can switch to that if you wish.
