How would I remove a tag, if I made a mistake?

It's possible only after you get next rank (only Hobby Entomologist and above can remove tags )

Thank you for the information but is this really a good idea?
If I make a simple mistake when adding a tag to my own thread it would be great to fix the mistake.

Then use the report link under your personal info.
I think it would make sense to be able to remove your own tags though. Still, becomming a Hobby Entomologist is not that big a task either :-) You only need 541 points. You're halfway there already!

In principle it does, but I think in practice it works to draw the attention of an admin to the topic. If you explain what happened, they will be happy to fix it for you. On the other hand: probably anyone with the appropriate tagging rights will fix it for you if you just leave the error in and don't do any reporting at all. I know I have fixed tags with spelling mistakes before.

In theory, users should be able to remove their own tags. We ran into some bugs and had to change stuff. I will check with Gurudutt tomorrow and see what he says.

Apart from that, I am not too worried about faulty tags, since they are really easy to fix. We have some backend magic available to do that globally too.

And reporting is fine if there is anything that went wrong and you need an admin to fix it. We recieve an email and get to it as soon as possible.

Yes it should be possible so members can remove their own tags, but it is not working a.t.m. :(

I have created an issue in our tracker for it and it should be fixed soon and after next roll out members will be able to remove their own tags.

Thank you for pointing out the issue :)

Hi, I recently reached a Hobby Entomologist rank and I have little question about deleting tag. Is there protection before evils users who can remove someones tag and after short time can add this same tag to get more ranking points? I know that it is not very likely but sometimes it can happend.

sorry for my broken english :)

                        Nothing to worry here,

If someone delete some tag and add it again, still the original member who added that tag will get point, so the member who will delete the tag and add same tag again will not benefit from that :)

Note that this is done by a maintenance script that runs nightly. If you try this and you see your points change, it does not mean that this safeguard is defective. Your cheated points will be taken away from you with the next run of the script.

This issue is fixed now, so any member can remove their own tag even though member do not have enough points/level.
