Software Engineer for C++/Qt/VTK development in Linux environment based in Cornwall UK



  • The selected candidate will work within the Pinnacle Imaging Group as part of the Technical Development and Processing team based in St Agnes, Cornwall, UK. The focus of this team is the design and development of Imaging software used in the oil and gas industry. Seismic experience would be an advantage as would experience in medical science imaging or other relevant field.
    The candidate will take an active part in code development for any of the following projects; porting of existing code to a GPU/CUDA environment; development of a Qt/VTK based interface to define/run processing workflows; integration of new seismic algorithms to our existing code base.
    He/she will also be in charge of managing software development projects and liaising with senior research geophysicists to design plugins for the Imaging team’s research developments (microseismic visualisation, diffraction stack imaging, reverse time migration), and new processing workflows.
    Knowledge, Skills & Experience
    We are looking for talented people motivated by technical and scientific challenges. The successful candidate will hold a first or second degree in computing, with at least five years of software development experience OR at least 7 years’ experience in a software development role with a degree qualification in any of numerate science or engineering discipline.

    The applicant should specifically have experience of:

    •Software development in C, C++ or other object oriented language
    •Linux
    •Perl or python
    •Some Linux systems admin skills
    •Either CUDA or QT/VTK

    Other requirements include:

    •Good spatial visualisation skills
    •Ability to communicate as part of a team
    •Driving licence
    •Passport without restrictions on travel
    •Ability to work in the UK
