GPush "Please specify exact ranges"

Posting here as it was requested recently and I myself struggled for a long time against this error, hoping future googlers won't have take that long to decrypt this error message.
If after calling gpush --branch dev to push a change to gerrit you get an error asking you to "Please specify exact ranges" all you have to do is add .. at the end: gpush --branch dev ..
