That is the first thing that I tried, but it seems that I had to include <QtMacExtras> and not <QtMac> as I was doing. Basically the reason for the confusion was the fact that I stumbled first here.
But by the way, I still have not solved the second part (and I did read about windows extras).
Have you noticed that sometimes when a window in... well Windows, wants to notify you about something its task bar icon glows orange?
Can I do that in Qt?
