Seems that we can only display two badges within the forum. Why need this control? Any tips of breaking this restrictions?

The idea is that we should prevent the situation that the information around a post becomes too long in comparison to the actual content of the message. The stuff under the name will end up looking like a christmas tree if you allow all badges to show there. IMHO, the space for the poster name is already a bit big in comparison to the length of your post, Chuck :-)

What might work is a situation where the list of badges is scrolled upwards one badge every second or so, in a nicely animated way, of course :-)

Maybe it is better to list the well-designed badge icons instead of a long badge bar which takes too much spaces.

For example, as for chinese weibo badges, it show like this:

When you hover over the badge icons, more details can be shown.

In my opinion, i'd like the best 2. The more badge icons shows, it's feeling like "Win a badge icon game", you don't need show all of your badges to others, just improve the best 2 one you get. Anyway, Eyes of the beholder, the wise see wisdom :D

IMHO, with the style badges have now, two(2) are enough. If a different style was to be adapted, then there could be more! ;-)

As Andre writes, it's to prevent the forum threads to look like myspace or geocities pages of old ;) Also having to decide on two badges to show gives it a personal touch. If you want to see someones full set of badges just have a look at their profile.

We went with text on the badges (and not just icons) because they have instant meaning to anyone, regardless of their icon deciphering skills or mouse hover actions.

I would prefer to keep it simple and straightforward as it is today too.
