Is it possible that both behave different if you are not a registered user (or you are not logged in)?

My interpretation of an "active topic" is a topic that has much activitity at the moment, and not something that has anything to do with my activitities. But maybe that's a misinterpretation?

imo you are correct on that, Ludde.

In the past there was at least one page of active topics and now this is much less.

I will take a look here,

Many issue in forum were fixed after last upgrade yesterday.

I will go through code and I will get back soon here.

The definition of the intended action would be helpful. The difference in wording of these entries "Active topics" and "Posts since last visit" indicate that there should be a difference in action.

True, it's not very useful now. The difference between “Active topics” and “Posts since last visit” is simply that "active topics" lists the “posts since last visit” with activity in the last 24 hours (or at least I think it's 24 hours, I can't confirm now).

Hi mariusg, thanks for the definition. However, in my opinion this definition may be wrong or incomplete. "active topics" list was shorter than "posts since last visit". Just tried a minute ago ;-)
Pressing "Mark all posts as read" causes both to display the notice
                  @
                  Search Results:

Your search did not return any results.
                  Return to the previous page
                  @
So the "marking all posts read" invalidates at least the definition you lined out.
So may be the current implementation diverted from the initial design.

Let me clarity: the "active topics" is a subset of "posts since last visit" (it just has an added time filter), so when you mark all as read -> both reports are empty.

                      OK, thanks again for clarification.

Then the behaviour makes sense. Unfortunately the naming is then not descriptive enough. This is not a complaint.
When playing around and trying to understand the different behaviour, you have to fail then.
