Qt will be brought to the S40 series

ok.. Qt running on 1GH s40 device.. very interesting.. will be interesting to know what kernal base they use for qt on s40.. may be S40 is moving to linux kernal base ???

Its nowhere mentioned that any future S40 device would be supported. Would love to see Qt running on S40.

That's very true they used to refer to S40 as the Next billion, and this was prior to Microsoft partnership. After that I am not sure about what they mean unless they have explicitly mentioned it.

If you check they are referring to s40 J2ME devices here. Which is addressed in millions. So wondering what the device platform would be which supports billions of devices.

On a best note, S40 can get a linux kernel base, pure imagination though. It does not sound odd because, Motorola bought Azingo ( a linux OS provider ), which is pitched on the same target market as S40.

May be the ground work is already being done for bringing Linux kernel base to S40 as we talk here :) who knows...
EDIT: sorry, I guess I should not be spreading the rumors.

Seems they themselves are not sure or confident enough to clear this. In my opinion they should not be talking about this until the roadmap is clear to them. Now a lot of confusion prevails with lot of rumors being blogged and tweeted.
And probably these would affect only the mobile developers and mobile app companies who have made investments in Qt.

It is more than 2 weeks after the Nokia connection event and no further info on Qt for ' next billion '. I tend to agree with Qtk that they themselves are not sure. Note that at around 4% market share, WP don't have an ecosystem. The only ecosystem that Nokia has is the Symbian one. So I wonder if these types of announcements are actually aimed at getting more Qt apps for Symbian, until WP gets on more phones. Sorry, unless Nokia doesn't give any solid information, people will keep guessing.
