QtitanRibbon 1.0 has been released. This component implements the concept of Microsoft Ribbon UI for Nokia's Qt. Component is made with strict adherence to Ribbon UI specification from Microsoft. The QtitanRibbon product allows you to quickly implement the concept of Ribbon UI in your application for three platforms - Windows, Linux, Mac OS X. To learn more about this component, follow this link - http://www.devmachines.com/products/qtitanribbon.html

      Hi,

It's a very interesting news, concerning some development I am working on.

What I need is a honest answer to know if this beta release is sufficiently effordable to be used in a new development project.

I would like to clarify that this is not a beta release. This is a well-honed and tuned release version. You can absolutely safely use it in your projects.

Thank you very much for your clarification, I have no idea why I read (mostly on our site) that it was the 1.0 beta release... It's a misunderstanding.

Please, tell me if you are interested in the applications I'm working on and we can discuss about in a more appropriate context.

:) Thank you for your immediate answer. You can contact me directly by mail at enrico.miglino@ovi.com

You product should be "implanted" in a project (but there are other interesting opportunities) that you can find also here: https://projects.forum.nokia.com/blackcatcuttingstudio regarding the Adaptive Interface.
The others implies hardware integration and will be discussed by mail.

              Wait for you considerations. BR

                In response to....

                bq.
Remarks on the licensing Ribbon UI
If you create an application that uses QtitanRibbon components, you must agree to a licensing agreement with Microsoft for the Ribbon UI before you can deploy your application. You receive no rights in the Ribbon UI from Developer Machines. You can request a license from Microsoft at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/aa973809/.
                bq.

As no patent has been acquired yet, anyone who has not signed the Microsoft license can legally implement the Ribbon ui concept in their applications without having to conform to Microsoft's requirements.

Also Microsoft will not give their approval for a license to products competing directly with Microsoft's.

It is highly unlikely that Microsoft will ever actually acquire a patent for the Ribbon UI as it has already been proven in a court of law to be Prior Art.
