How did you like the current "group icon"?
Ants are great for anything :) But, are they really independent?
Honestly: I like ants from the same reason that I like wikis and tags.
I don't thing they are independent on the sense that they need each other to survive but who is?
The aspect that inspired me was how much they can accomplish without any hierarchy and working together. Not that the simple message: work together or die alone doesn't apply here! :)
After all, I think independence is the power to decide more than anything else.

I actually had a good time reading this book. To be perfectly honest the part that I didn't like much was when he decided to put on his "IT" hat... You can actually read a few chapters of the book on amazon before deciding...

For anybody interested I found out that the author has the book available for download (for free):
"Kevin Kelly":http://www.kk.org/books/out-of-control.php
But I just realized that I may have read about the ants on "another book":http://www.amazon.com/Emergence-Connected-Brains-Cities-Software/dp/0684868768
The first one cites the second I think...
EDIT: You can preview the second book on "google books":http://books.google.com/books?id=qAtgKyaLH4MC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_atb#v=onepage&q&f=false
(by the way I think this second one is actually the one I didn't like the IT/software aspect of it)

Just uploaded a new image:

EDIT: I just realized that the Trolls may have a problem with Qt logo so for now:

fcrochik, new icon is slightly better, thanks :) Maybe ants should be moved from edge of icon? So border will not overlay them.
-
the new one is really great :) but maybe you can add some animation like for example this ants will be walking from one edge to another :)
-
Cannot find any restrictions on gifs :) So I think they are allowed
-
Then I think the animation should be as realistic as possible. No ant shaped sliders please :)
I agree :) This ants must be "living theirs own life" ;)
-
Ahm... no animations please. These are so... so.... late 90ies when everything was blinking and moving and with bizarre colours :-)
Oh, I am to young to remember how it web looks in late 90ies, but I think that little animations who have some idea will be looking great :)
-
but we can't overact with realism, we must keep restraint in everythink :) I am for a little animations with some realism.
