New posts counter is wrong sometimes
-
It's "Posts since last visit" not "Unread" I'm afraid.

I did this,
- Login to devnet, 7 new posts, read one post
- Now devnet home page shows 6 new posts
- From a totally new browser logged into devnet and still see 6 new posts
So if this were posts since last visit, it should have shown 0 ?
-
more issues ...
just now went to the devnet home, and saw that there were 4 unread posts, I clicked on it and saw a single post with 2 replies, and I already had viewed this post with the same 2 replies ... -

Do you remember if you had a page view on the front page earlier with 4 unread posts? If so we need to tweak the cache headers to be stricter.

nope I was in a thread and then navigated to the home page and saw the new posts

Just wanted to know if it's possible to set the "new post counter" back to zero without having to open all forum posts? Pretty anoying and loging in and out doesn't help either
-
Sometimes site clear old unread messages, but only sometimes... :)
-
Would be nice to be able to reset the counter manually or by loging out/in, as they are supposed to be the posts since my last visit.... I'aint going to open all 1053 forum posts!!! :-)

This is already on the wishlist, see "QTWEBSITE-130":http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTWEBSITE-130 on the bugtracker. You can vote for it - it might speed up implementation a bit :-)

Ok, just voted for it! ;)
-
Yeah, counter seems to be fixed!!! But a bit bored have less to read now ;-)
-
:( Nope it ain't... on the other hand was getting bored, so got something on my hand (clicking all forum posts) ;-)

BTW, you can "mark all as read" by clicking this link: http://developer.qt.nokia.com/forums/mark_all_read/
We will add a button/link for it somewhere soon. :)

In my opinion this is not resolved yet.
I just finished reading all the new posts. So the counter was zero. I refresh the website one second later and it shows 6 new posts. I open the list and see 1 topic. I open the topic and there are 6 posts. I'm very sure it was the last one i read and it had 5 posts when i read it.
So i'm pretty sure the counter counts the posts even if i already opened them before. It should have counted just one, since i alredy read the previous 5.Seems to me the number of new posts is the sum of all posts where there is a new post in a topic.
Should i report a new bug for this?

The DevNet folks (MariusG) are aware of that already. Unfortunately it can only be solved upstreams by the forums software, so we will have to be patient.

Ok thanks. That was not clear to me. Now it is.

You're welcome. I don't know if that has been written in some forum post previously, or if we just talked about it on IRC...
-
Volker, via IRC AFAIR. At least I remember this discussion in IRC and don't remember such posts at forum :)
