[Suggestion] add most recent posts in the profile page
-
chetankjain, another good suggestion. It will let you see either none of them (wiki and forum posts) or one of them or both.
-
chetankjain, yes, such mechanism can give a lot of rich functions to profile page. Marius, are you recording all this stuff? :)
-
From usability testing we know that people prefer to scroll a bit rather than use portlet navigation (things that change only a small part of the page) to access important information. So in theory adding 220 vertical pixels to show the latest forum activity without any interaction beats adding navigational features to toggle the content of an area. To turn it around; there should be a good reason to "hide" valuable information from the viewer unless you have to. Do we have to? Will the profile page be overly cluttered and/or long?
But usability without testing is like art, it's hard to be sure :)

Marius, then maybe show by default, but remember what was hided by user?

So, just rephrasing; expandable rows for the wiki and forum activity on the profile page that are expanded by default, but can be collapsed by the user (a cute triangle or something) and the setting is saved in a cookie, or even the database.
That is the best of two worlds, a good solution I would say.
I'll add that to the wishlist, just know that the wishlist is getting long so no promises on when!
-
Marius, yeah, rephrasing is totally right :) It is good that wishlist is big, new features are always interesting :)
you should keep track of good suggestions and award the next latest Nokia mobile to the highest THREE contributors :p ... game theory ;)

chetankjain, good note :) really :)
ah but Tobias has a TROLL badge, what can beat that ? :'(
That's very true :) Expandable rows is a good idea, but maybe a tabbed area is better, because it's nicer, cleaner and it's displayed more similarly in different browers.
-
CreMindES, but it will not allow you to view all tabs at one time. Expandable rows allow. And as Marius said, most of users prefer to scroll more than to click more.
-
Yes, that's true, I've considered it also, but I still beleive that a page should be as simple as it can be, and if there is 3 or 5 expandable rows... that's why I've come up with a tabbed sections. But mariusg is right, we have to examine it from every aspect. :)
