How to upload any file to the wiki?

How can one upload any file to the wiki? I could not locate any link to it.
Also when browsing the wiki we can have the right side tab show wiki related options instead of Forum updates. Some links like creating a new page, uploading any new content etc. and Forum updates could be replaced by recently added\edited wiki articles.

Nope sorry, file upload is not on the roadmap for various reasons (including legal). We hope it will be sorted but don't hold your breath. For images/photos Nokia has a service at http://share.ovi.com/ that works fine. And for source code we recommended http://gitorious.org/.

It would be nice, if some images could be uploaded at least to the wiki pages. I'd like to provide the translated getting started pages with some screenshots of the translated dialogs too. It's a bit awkward to put the screenshots on another server.
Any chance that this might get handled somehow? Maybe the mad scientists or gene splicers can help to determine if an image is ok to be uploaded in the wiki. Or have the user who uploads the image "sign" an affirmation that the image is copyrighted by him or is free to be used (common creative license or something like that).

i like the idea of wiki pages with images in it .. makes it a much better reading ..
any user should be able to report if an uploaded image is not OK .. just like how any user can edit and update/correct a wiki article contents ... I feel it need not just be the moderators/admins

Any update on this feature - when we can expect.

IMHO, the legal concerns about copyright on images are more or less the same as the legal concerns on text (assuming the devnet would allow to upload just PNG files, for example). The main concern should be the burden on maintaining the feature.
Since I have my own hosting, and there are plenty of specialized sites on the net that allow some hotlinking, I don't think this is of the highest priority (all IMHO, as always :) ).

There are many thirdparty sites for hosting. But it is always better to have he images hosted in the wiki - to ensure that they don break in future.
Also copyright issue can be moderated to a certain extent - that is how other forums do. Say Forum Nokia has a very well maintained wiki - and they moderate it very well.

Well, I'm afraid no one has had time to work on it, leading to problems: the "PySide Simplissimus tutorial":http://developer.qt.nokia.com/wiki/PySide_Newbie_Tutorials became quite unusable because the URLs went dead. The files are still available, but you have to trick a bit to find'em. If such a functionality was available, no one would have had to lose half an hour because an index page had disappeared...
This is not a bad nightmare. It does happen. Whatever your position is, it is yours to find a solution so that this never again happens. May it be file uploads or easy upload to Gitorious, it does not matter how. Saying what you do think about this in the edit pages of the wiki is not an option, it's more like a requirement, at the very least.

yea, currently it is not easy to add images in the wiki. have to provide the URL.

I find it rather odd that there's recommendations to use things like personal Dropbox for images (see http://developer.qt.nokia.com/forums/viewthread/11099/) etc. These "personal" place are not sticky enough and we are ending in broken pages.
I think we need to have a proper and more stable recommendation for images where. If we don't add feature to developer.qt.nokia.com how about recommending to use the Nokia's sister site developer.nokia.com/wiki as it has upload service.
There could even be some kind of nice interface to link these.
While creating a new wiki page I bumped into the same issue so I just uploaded a file to Nokia Developer Wiki which allows uploads (http://www.developer.nokia.com/Community/Wiki/File:Fullscreen_input.png)
and then linking it from there to Qt Developer Network Wiki (http://developer.qt.nokia.com/wiki/How_to_Enable_Split-View_Input_for_Text_Editors_in_Symbian_Qt_Apps).The file upload interface is in this URI:
http://www.developer.nokia.com/Community/Wiki/Special:UploadNot that bad to use.

I would also really appreciate it if it were possible to upload diagrams/screenshots to the wiki.
Is is really not possible to overcome the licensing/maintenance issues? Wikipedia somehow manages to do it, don't they?
So for now...

http://www.developer.nokia.com/Community/Wiki/Special:Upload[/quote]...is that still the best recommendation?
