one basic question, what if as a moderator you see someone using foul language or short forms like wtf .. do u edit or just leave it considering the context? very subjective right? :)

lol, ok using phrases like wtf are common and not frowned upon in some cultures, but in some cultures its a NO NO.. what do we moderators do :)

That's a tricky one. I'd say: it depends. The post shouldn't be offending to anyone or plain vulgar. But lines blur and what might be okay for one could be way off for someone else. Let's see how far we get with common sense.
If all fails there is still the "report" option.

Thanks Tobias :) .. but 10K is a long way to go and then one has to sustain through 6 months points expiry too ... won't be easy

Not able to edit "this particular thread":http://developer.qt.nokia.com/forums/viewthread/1072/, rest seem ok .. other moderators are you able to see the edit/move/delete links?

Ah didn't see the new forum. But gene splicers by definition should inherit moderation rights across the forum?

Could a moderator please get the right to move threads to his forum and not just the ability to move threads from the own forum into others? E.g. I am moderating the Tools forum and just today ran into some threads that I do consider to belong there... unfortunately I can not do anything about that.
Of course you could just allow me to moderate the entire forum (I am a Gene Splicer after all) to solve the issue for me without resorting to coding;-)

Yes, but the assigning is by human, not automated. It will get there.[/quote]
ok ok ... i thought the moderators belong to some internal group and get these rights (seen such things in other forum s/w) and again no rush :)
