So we can ban ourselves now?

Well, a bit of masochistic katharsis does not hurt, eh?
Sure looks like a bug.

Hi all,
Tero Kojo is investigating the banning features of devnet due to frequent spamming activities in the past month.
Normally this should be visible/accessible to moderators only.
@utcenter i will ban you as you were trying to do so... Just kidding ;-)

status update:
I did a test with a new user i made myself and the banning works great already : the user is removed and all post made by the user also.
So we have some cool weaponry now against the spam hobbyist.
Thanks to Tero Kojo!
Please be patient about the ban link visibility. It shouldn't be there for all users.

Nice, good to know. Manually removing all spam threads was mightily cumbersome and boring ;)

[/quote]I did not expect to get banned really, the odds of this feature being a bug and actually being functional in banning was estimated to be very slim. So I decided to click :)

@utcenter yep, looks like you can see the link on your own posts. It's an unintentional side effect :)
The templates used here don't have a proper tag for identifying a moderator, so I used the tag for a person that can edit the post/reply. Which means that it shows up for the author as well.
Of course normal users can access the ban page, and there is a safety switch in place for moderators so they don't ban themselves. I'll try to wrap my head around the tags and code used to make the link disappear from your own posts.
Anyway having proper banning in place brings more power to the community.
