Hey there,
just saw the news today that Jolla has presented their Qt-based OS Sailfish. Have a look:
https://sailfishos.org/.Quote: "We are using Qt with our Sailfish UI components and soon you will be able to download our QtCreator plugins that will automate this for you."
Also look at http://jolla.com/.

wow! This is unexpected!
I thought they have chosen the non-Qt path like Tizen. This is good news! Hope they will try to build a connection with Qt Project, too.
Thank you for this post.

According to the comments on Youtube the demo device is a N950, but I'd be surprised if there was no way to get it running on the N9...

I'm hoping this is a real OS, and not a mockup QML application running on top of MeeGo.
It seems to inherit the nice things from N9. I'll test it on N950 as soon as they release it to the community (if they do).

It's a real OS, using Mer core (a fork of Meego). Apps are developed with Qt and QML, using "QtCreator":http://qt.gitorious.org/+mer-qt-creator/qt-creator/mer-qt-creator
More on the SDK to come. -

I meant the thing that was demonstrated.
It happens from time to time that teams develop a real product, but since it is not polished enough, and they need sponsorship, they just make a functioning mockup to show off the idea.
What I meant is that I hope that the OS is now as polished as it seemed in the demo.
Really hoping this will take off - the last hope for the real linux phone :]

Now I understand. Well some months a go when they started twitting they said something like they were not revealing their partners/sponsors but that they were stading in the shoulders of a giant.
Also really hopping that they will succed, it seems their team has a lot of ex-Nokians from the original Meego team, wich sounds really good. -

Seems I was overly pessimistic.
They sent a hint that the first testing images (for n950) will arrive in a few weeks. If it is capable of calls, SMSs and playing mp3s, this is my new default phone software :)
