Great news! I really hope that MeeGo will be compatible to existing OS and products for these types of devices. But of course it is up to the users on the mass market to decide :)

Hey, do not panic! MeeGo is open source and it is not just Nokia. A lot of companies are pushing it forward and it has a lot to offer! :) And btw N9 is with MeeGo Harmattan which is a bit different from the pure MeeGo.

For example, Intel wants to use MeeGo for their new Atom based In-vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems. Im not sure but I think theyve already signed a contract with Renault and Nissan.

Absolutely. I read that "MeeGo was chosen by the GENIVI alliance for In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI)":http://www.linuxfoundation.org/news-media/announcements/2010/07/meego-software-platform-chosen-genivi-alliance a year ago. According to "their web site":http://www.genivi.org/ABOUT/GENIVIMembers/tabid/430/Default.aspx GENIVI Alliance includes BMW Group, Jaguar, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, etc.

Damn the EEE pc-x101 looks good, I might consider retiring my almost year old EEE 1001px also running MeeGo btw (I regret buying it now that I see x101 pricing and specs :( )
