The Importance of Additives in Lubricants
Lubricants consist of a base oil and other ingredients that are called additives. But wat are these additives and why are they used? We explain you the facts.
Base oils can be mineral-based, synthetic or synthesized oils. Additives however are combined of chemical elements. These were mixed into the base oil. The aim hereby is to stabilize the base oil and to increase the performance of the lubricant. It is also important that additives not only extend the lifespan of the lubricant, but also the lifespan of your engine. Without the additive your oil would be contaminated, would sail and the most important aspect: it would not protect your machinery appropriately.
