QSpinBox frame missing in 5.11

I recently updated my Qt version from 5.8 to 5.11. When i compile with the 5.11 kit all my QSpinBoxes are missing their frames even if the frame flag is set. The exact same project compiled with 5.8 has the frames rendered as usual. (Using windows mingw kit)
Is there a bug in this class not apparent in older versions?
This problem is specifically problematic within tab widget, because in my window manager the editable area is not visible due to the same color in the tab widget and the spin box.
