Qtcreator Raspberry Pi Device Cross Compile Issue

Running from Ubuntu 16.04 host, compiling for Raspberry Pi, Device tests good, None QApplications run and debug fine. QApplications find this message when debugging or running remotely: qtcreator rasspberry QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display ... Worked for years, not it does not, seem the last sets of upgrades of Qtcreator may have broken this but I am not sure..
ssh -X application works fine.. Problem is only from qtcreator ..
ran qtcreator from bash shell with alias of ssh to ssh -X then ran qtcreator and tried to run application remotely still no good, qtcreator rasspberry QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display..
Welded DISPLAY :0 in the run env symptom changes, QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display DOES NOT APPEAR in application display, however neither does the display of the application..
I am lost.. any help here would be appreciated.. Worked for a year, not it does not.. no clue.. Madness is right around the corner.
