Solved Can't `make install` Qt compiled from source on Linux
-
Hi, I need to compile the latest version of Qt, so I followed the tutorial on Qt's wiki and everything seemed to work fine except when I finally try to
make install
which gives me:Cannot read /home/timjrd/repos/qt5/qtbase/mkspecs/linux-g++/qmake.conf: No such file or directory
I don't really know what to do. I'm on Ubuntu 16.04.
Any idea ?
Thank you :) -
Hi, I redid the build from scratch and realized that one must not
make install
when passing the-developer-build
flag to configure. Now I can successfully use Qt from the build directory.
Thank you for your help and sorry for the noobery :)

Hi and welcome to devnet,
What exact parameters did you pass to configure ?
Did you do an out of source build ? -

Except that a developer build is for people wanting to hack on Qt.
If you want to use Qt directly from the build folder, you should use
-prefix $PWD/qtbase

@SGaist ok, I didn't notice that. Thank you !
