MSVS 2015 unable to load symbols from PDB

I have the latest Qt 5.9 x64 version installed for MSVS 2015 (with Update 3). I can build/link/run my code just fine from within MSVS 2015. However, once I start debugging, VS says that unable to load or read from PDB file for

• Qt5Cored.dll
• Qt5Widgetsd.dll
• Qt5Guid.dll

I have downloaded the PDB from a separate package from Qt downloads and unpacked for x64 msvs2015. The PDB files are present in the same folders as the DLLs. What is the correct way to make VS debugger load Qt symbols?
