Solved Qt Creator enable Beautifier
-
Hi, friends
I use Qt Creator 4.3.1 in my Mac. But when I enable Beautifier by checking "About Plugins"->"Beautifier", nothing change after restarting Qt Creator.BTW, there is always a red bar in front of Beautifier option, does it matter ? Or how can I enable Beautifier?
Thanks a lot

Hi and welcome to devnet,
Did you install at least one of the tools listed in the documentation page of the Beautifier plugin ?
-
@SGaist Yes, I did. I installed AStyle and ClangFormat but nothing changed
-
-
@jsulm I tried many times but when I restarted Qt Creator, the Beautifier checkbox would back to uncheck

Can you start Qt Creator from the console with the
QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS
environment variable set to 1 ? It should show you more information about what is happening. -
Oops, I thought I solved the problem. It seems that when I check the checkbox in "About Plugins", Qt Creator would write to a 'file' to set the specific plugin to be load at starting. As I install Qt Creator in my home path, the 'file' might have to be written by sudoers. So I run Qt Creator from console with sudo and checked Beautifier and it loaded Beautifier plugin successfully at restarting.

You should rather clean the permissions from that file than run Qt Creator with sudo.
