Log-in expires after logging-in somewhere else

  • it is per browser session.. not for every single page :)

  • I did some changes and it is still under observation for now.
Please keep eye on it and as soon you see this issue again then please let me know.

  • Had the same problem with Firefox. Works now.

  • Looks ok here.

  • Seems fine in chrome (windows/linux)

  • I had a strange issue here, logged in a noon, did not do anything so my PC went to sleep. When I woke it up againnow and refreshed the pagge, I tried to open the unread posts and then I was logged out....

    I'm using Firefox on Win7...

  • Just came to office and tried to log-in. "NO" automatic log-in happened, but username and password are auto-filled in and I had to press log-in ...

Yesterday couple of times wrong password auto-filled in to the password filed when I tried to log-in, I got credentials error and I had to type in the password to log-in.

The auto-fill of username and password is a browser feature working on data from local storage. If you log in with the correct credentials the browser should offer to store the updated credentials.

Just to clarify if this is working as intended:

    • I usually use the "new_topic_search link":http://developer.qt.nokia.com/forums/new_topic_search to enter the QDN.
    • It then presents me a list of active topics and the login box on the right side.
    • I then tick "keep logged in" and log in.
    • I get redirected to a page which states "no posts matched your query", although the profile says there are several new posts.
    • If I then use the same link again it correctly presents the new posts.
    • If I close the browser and re-open it, I have to re-login instead of beeing logged in and the procedure starts over.

I'm quite sure this behaviour is new since the last update (before I was kept logged in and the new_topic_search link led directly to the new posts).

    I'm on Windows 7 64 / Firefox 5.

  • Hi Marius,

I was also logged out on my work PC. It was logged in on friday when I left. In between I logged in from home... Should that work and keep my working PC logged in or not?

  • Gerolf, if you have selected "Keep me logged in for two weeks" on last friday then you must be logged in today as well, I did the same as you did and I am logged in at 3 different computer and when I came back to office today and I am still logged in.

Thank you Lukas Geyer for steps, I am trying to reproduce it here.

    Hi

I see when you are browsing "posts since last visit" as a anonymous user
and after that if log in at that page then after login it redirects to previous search, but that search results were for "anonymous user" and now you are logged as different user and that's why it dosen't return any result, also when you goes back then basically you go back in your browser and you see you are not logged in, but if you click on any other link then you are actually logged in, this is expected behaviour.

  • Makes sense.

Probably it would be more intuitive to just re-execute the query as it would reflect the expected behaviour. However, I see that this leads to some technical difficulties.

    Hi Gurudutt,

I always set this option, but was not logged in anymore... :-(

  • Hi Gurudutt,

I have switched to my laptop yesterday. My account was logged out. This morning I started my desktop. Again I had to log in. I set also always the keep option. :-(

  • For me, it currently seems to work.

  • This issue is fixed and it is working fine as expected here.

If you are still getting this issue, probably you might have to clear browser cache for this and try again.

  • Hi Gurudutt
Thanks for feedback. I will keep an eye on it and come back, if it persists.

  • Hi Gurudutt

the problem is still there. After your last reply I have cleared all cache/temporary files and logged in again. When accessing the QtDevNet first time in a day I have to log in again. This happened definitely twice, yesterday and today.

I am working on win7 64 bit with Chrome 12.0.742.122

  • @Gurudutt: Problem seems to be back again :(

  • Yes, it is even worse now.
I have to log-in every morning and also sometime during the day. This is random and does not depend on logging in at another PC.
This is at least since Wednesday.

  • Yes it will be difficult to narrow down the problem. In my case it's random too. This morning I had no problem even with logging in at another computer.

  • I have to log in again each morning when I start my machine...

  • I too have to log in anew every morning.

  • Moderators

I'm seeing the same thing, as well, on one of my two machines. My Ubuntu/Chromium box works fine, but my Win 7/Firefox box won't save the session.

Btw, Is there a difference with an openId login vs a non-openID login? I am just using a username/password without an openID.

Happens for me too, and I just attached OpenID to the account... Logging in with username and password though.

Also I browse this site with two different computers, both using Opera as browser though.

  • The Oslo trolls are aware of the issue will investigate it soon. Please stay tuned for updates :-)

  • The cookies and the cache don't work well together after a CMS upgrade, we have an experts meeting on Friday to get to the bottom of it.

  • Hi

We have found some unexpected behavior with login remember cookie and we have applied a patch to fix it.

It require to clear your cookies in your web browser for developer.qt.nokia.com

Please keep observing it and update us with your experiences.

I am sorry for inconvenience but our CMS labs have changed some libraries to make it better and it is getting better day by day.

Thank you all for your great help to make it better.

  • First of all, that you :).

After I cleared my cookies I tried to reply to this topic (which obviously didn't work since I wasn't logged in anymore). However, on the page asking me to login the layout was all messed up and this was displayed at the top (You asked us to observe ;) :

Seems like the template engine didn't do it's job.

Thanks for the report loladiro, we're on it (tomorrow that is).

  • Congrats to the dev team. It seems to work now.

  • works here too :)

    Thanks and congratulations!

  • Moderators

    Hurrah! Thanks much!

  • for me it also seems to wprk now, thanks a lot.

  • I was urged to login again today. Dunno if it was the 2 weeks expiration, but that was not the case until recently that I needed to log in every 2 weeks.

  • Same here at least twice every 24hrs I need to login again, doesn't seem related to other open sessions.

  • Any progress on a fix?

  •
Any progress on a fix?
Doesn't look so. Today I had to re-login twice on my laptop. I suspect the different IPs due to the mobile data connection to cause this.
