Message spam in "unread" folder

Not sure where I should put this complaint, so might as well be here.
When I created this new account, i found myself subscribed("watching") to all the boards on this forum. I find this just a bit excessive, and also very hard to get rid of(I have to go individually to each of the dozens of sub-forums and click on "ignoring", wat?). I think the default should be that you are not "watching" any of the subforums, unless the user explicitly wants to.
Or is this a subtle suggestion for me to learn French/Italian languages and master the art of Qt on Raspberry Pi?

Hi! You can change the notification settings: Go to you profile settings page and take a look at the e-mail section.

@Wieland Hi,
it's not quite what i meant:) I set my email notifications to "off", i'm not talking about them. Sorry for confusion.What i meant is this button here:
Not seeing anything about this one in the profile settings though

That's interesting; my account certainly doesn't do that.
Just to double-check: Do these two pages show you the same list?

Hi @Jagh
That icon just tells you what has happened since your last visit.
When you click on it, the unread screen has options to let you see All, New or Only Wathced topics. And it has nice "Mark read" functions too.
I find it a good element, as it lets people select the style they want to see activity they missed.You probably will want to set it to "watched" only, or some select category. And then start looking around what to follow.

a possibility to mass move all subforums to ignored/watched lists would be nice
It looks like other people have asked for similar features too: https://community.nodebb.org/topic/9437/can-one-default-categories-to-ignoring-instead-of-watching
From the NodeBB folks' response however, it looks like there's no easy way for a user to change their defaults, unfortunately.
