Unsolved qmake installed but not working
-
Hello!! I installed qt-creator and all the dependencies of qt.When I try to run command
qmake
it says that
The program 'qmake' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install qtchooser
but when I try to run the above command it gives the following reply
Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done qtchooser is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
I think the packages are broken. Can anybody suggest how to install qmake again? Thanks!

Hi! Go to https://www.qt.io/download/ and get the online installer. The online installer will install all necessary components and also allow to install optional components.
-
@abhay Did you install Qt as well or only QtCreator?
qmake is part of Qt, not QtCreator. And you should tell how you install: using apt-get, Qt offline installer, Qt online installer, ...? -
Hi,
Did you install the Qt development packages from your distribution ?
-
@jsulm I installed both Qt and Qt Creator(through offline installer).
-
The installer doesn't install Qt and its binaries in a folder that is used in the PATH environment variable. Part of this to ensure that it doesn't clash with the distributions provided Qt and also to allow for development with several versions of Qt installed at the same time.
If you want to use that version of Qt from the command line then use the complete path to qmake.

@SGaist Hi..I think somehow I deleted the directory /usr/bin/qmake.I am sorry for not sharing this info with you. Now,can I make qmake installble again? Thanks!

Looks like you removed your distribution's qmake.
Re-install the corresponding package.
