Using QCamera with PAL vs NTSC

I am trying to set up an application that reads in camera data and displays it in a widget. Leveraging the QCamera example in QtCreator it works fine with NTSC sources, however when I switch the source to PAL the image looks shifted and black. I know I know I need to change the resolution to support PAL but that doesn't seem to help the situation. Anyone have any experience with PAL vs NTSC?
