QT Designer Wont Open

  • Hi, i am running QT For MSVC2015 64 bit, and i can not get the QT Designer to open. When i open the designer, it just does nothing, there is no crash message or anything, it opens the process in task manager, but it never actually does anything. I have the exact same setup on my desktop and i can open the designer just fine, but not on my laptop. The reason i am trying to get the designer to open, is so I can use the "Non-official?" visual studio plugin, so I can open .ui files without opening them all manually through the creator. If i try to open the designer through visual studio, it just freezes my visual studio and inevitably causes me to kill it through task manager. I am running windows 10 64bit, if that matters.

All of the other QT Applications work fine (linguist, assistant, creator) just not designer

I have the same problem. I have VS 2013 and 2015 installed on my 64-bit Windows 10 Pro system running build 14393 (Anniversary update). I have Qt versions MSVC2013 and MSVC2015, both 64-bit installed. I cannot launch the standalone QtDesigner using any means. It simply hangs during the launch (no windows, no taskbar icon, nothing). I have to kill it via Task Manager.

All other Qt standalone apps work and I can launch the Designer in QtCreator -- but the standalone QtDesigner will simply not launch.

I tried completely removing all traces of Qt from my computer and reinstalling using the latest on-line installer from It still does not work.

  • Wow, 7 month and no solution?

Same issue here: Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition, Visual GDB, Qt VS Tools. Worked fine but stopped working some time ago ...

This is going to be an impediment for me ...

Which exact version of Windows are you using ? Patch/Update applied ?
