Solved How to enable auto format on file with QtCreator 4.0.3? ( => solved by upgrading to 4.1.0)
-
Hello,
According to the documentation, http://doc.qt.io/qtcreator/creator-beautifier.html, the code beautifier option panel of Qt Creator should display 4 tabs. The first one, "General", allows for beautifying the code on save.
However, my version of Qt Creator (4.0.3 running on Windows 10) doesn't have that tab:
.I looked to all the options and googled a bit, but couldn't find where this option is located.
So my question: how to enable code beautifying on save with the version 4.0.3 of Qt Creator?
Thanks
Didier P.PS: I have installed Artistic Style and I can run it from the menu 'tools/beautifier/artistic style/format current file'.

Hi and welcome to devnet,
Did you check that the plugin was activated as well as you having their dependencies installed ?
In any case, there's also Qt Creator 4.1.0 that got released this week. Might be good to update your version.

Hi SGaist, thank you for your answer.
Yes, the "Beautifier" plugin (from Lorenz Haas) has been enabled and I can run "Artistic Style" on the current file from the menu (I added a short-cut to make it easy).
Updating to the just-released version of QT Creator is possible, but this make sense only if it was an issue in 4.0.3 that has been removed in 4.1.0. Otherwise, for sake of ease, I prefer to wait and upgrade the whole Qt chain all at once.
Best regards,

If you used the online installer, the update is already available.

Ok, I didn't know it... Upgrading went straight and I've got now the addition tab. Problem solved, thanks a lot !
