Hi everyone! What do you think about having another wiki week? Last year's wiki week was great fun and led to major improvements but there is still a lot left to do. Anyone interested?

@mrjj An event, open to everyone who wants to join, to improve wiki.qt.io in a one week long, massive effort.

Sounds fine to me, but what are we improving, do we have a plan?

@kshegunov First part would be to look what we could improve during the event :-)

That's perfect, however I see a slight problem ... I've never used the wiki, except to read upon the gerrit stuff, so I, naturally, have no idea whatsoever what could use improvement ... :D

@kshegunov My first idea would be to look at the FAQ, the installation guides, porting examples from Qt4 to Qt5, cleaning up non-English wiki pages, improving the beginners guide, adding examples for stuff that often comes up on the forum.

I vote for this with two hands high up in the air! Sometimes I feel I'm answering questions so similar I'm losing touch to which thread I'm responding. :D

                    Edit:
It seems the How to section could use a good article on threading ...

@kshegunov There is also an unknown number of old pages in Bulgarian and I have no idea if these can be updated or if they are obsolete/broken beyond repair. And you speak Bulgarian... :-)

It comes as a news to me that anyone would want to write qt wikis in such an obscure language. But I certainly can help with that.

It's been known to happen, writing in it - entirely different matter ... ;)

@kshegunov Most, if not all, pages in anything else then English are totally outdated as far as I can tell. Last wiki week I just kept most of them and only fixed formatting issues and deleted empty pages. I can tell that there is a big amount of pages in German that I would most certainly delete this time.

                            Hi,

                            +1

One other thing that is still valid is the cleanup of pages that haven't been checked yet when the transition happene and also the links cleanup e.g. old gitorious links (that should again be valid but still)

Something occurred to me, maybe it's not a bad idea to have a sticky post at the top of the each of the major forums actually pointing to the corresponding wiki pages?

I'd also say that it's pretty safe bet the language-specific pages aren't much used, especially seeing that the localized forums are almost dead. So I think it's not worth investing time to bring them up to date, this way more effort could be put into the English wiki and subsequently better results.

My overworked schedule bows deeply to @Wieland !
I've been meaning to put this together, but it always slips on the priority list.

When do you want to have it? I can put together the call blog post and help otherwise.

@JKSH needs to be in on this too, he has been doing a lot of work on the wiki. Plus he has a bot to make more automated cleanups.

@tekojo My personal preferences would be the weeks starting 2016-03-21 or 2016-03-28 but I'm flexible if others have other preferences.

@Wieland, I never did thank you properly for the work you did last year... Thanks for making the wiki look so much better!

I should be available during those dates.

Will it have a wish list of content for people to propose for changes?

Certainly, need to create a page on the wiki for that, or revive last years page :)
                                          All help and ideas welcome!
