I want to send extended ascii characters from a QT based GUI to a microcontroller over a serial port. I have used write() method first and the putChar() method. However both of them send only signed characters i.e. ASCII values from 0-127 and not beyond. Any suggetion, how this problem can be solved?

      Hi and welcome to devnet,

What exactly are you trying to send over your serial port ?

In any case, the maximum size of what is sent at a time is 8bit but that doesn't mean you can't send complex structures over it.
