QT Assistant has no content
-
I just downloaded and installed the Qt 4.7 SDK for the Mac. I've used Qt previously on Linux systems and really liked it.
My problem is that Qt Assistant has no content-- the content and index windows are blank, and all queries return no results. The documentation on Assistant seems to be woefully out of date: for example, it tells me that Qt Assistant is installed in /Developer/Applications/Qt, whereas in fact it's in the QtSDK folder in my home directory, the default location provided by the Mac Qt installer.
Anyway. Does anyone know how I can get Assistant to work?

in Qt Creator you can go to the tools menu > Help > Tab Documentation > button Add : select the location of your installed files.
-
add .qch file as Everall says.

I don't want to seem dense, but there is no "Help" item under the Tools menu in Qt Creator. I've looked through all the menus and cannot find a "Documentation" tab or an "Add" button that would let me specify the location of the documentation files.
The Qt Reference Documentation inside Qt Creator works, and I suppose that's one option, but my habits would prefer getting to this stuff via Qt Assistant.

That's weird on linux and on windows it's there in Qt Creator.
What version are you using?

The Mac version, of course. Maybe I should just go back to Linux...but all the MySQL stuff I'm trying to work with is on the Mac.

Have a look at the following link to add the docs manually to Qt Assistant :
http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.7/assistant-custom-help-viewer.html#displaying-custom-documentation

Ah, found it...(in the Mac version, anyway): simply open Assistant preferences, click the Documentation tab, then the Add button.
Sounds just like the original advice, except in Assistant->Preferences instead of Creator.
