@RStafford I have a application on windows, that access a dongle via QSerialPort. The application crashes, I can no longer open the port. QSerialPort::open returns false for ReadOnly, WriteOnly, or ReadWrite. If I reboot windows or disable/enable the dongle device in device manager, then this resolves the issues, and QSerialPort::open now works. If a crash happens is there any way to recover from this, outside of rebooting or modifying the device?

Maybe there are applications that can remove the look on a particular resource...
I think the right way is to solve the application bugs
