Launching Qt4 apps

I have mac osx and I have tried to install Qt4.8 and it successfully completed using the mpkg. The frameworks are all there but after opening designer or assistant the error comes up:
Assistant quit unexpectedly or Designer quit unexpectedly !

I need help because i want to use pyqt4. I also want to stick with Qt4 and not 5 because of all the tools i love.
