[SOLVED] Which smaller sized software might alternatively work to MSVC 2013, 32 bit on VirtualBoxVM?
-
Hi!
I use Qt for Mac, where everything works fine.
Now I wanted to install Qt creator on Oracle VirtualBoxVM. Well, Qt creator itself is working without any problems on VM, but when I wanted to set up the compiler I either had the problem, that the version was not supported (e.g. Visual c++ Express) or the size of the version of MSVC was too big to be installed on Oracle VirtualBoxVM.
I know, that it is generally recommended to use the same MSVC compiler als Qt creator was built in.
In my case:
Based on Qt 5.4.2. (MSVC 2013, 32 bit)Is there a possibility to
- Make Qt work even on Windows 7, 64, on Oracle VirtualBoxVM?
- Which "smaller" sized software with a compiler is also compatible for Qt 5.4.2. (MSVC 2013, 32 bit)?
Thanks in advance for useful replies!

Not quite. You should use the same compiler as what the Qt libraries are built in. Note that Qt Creator is an IDE, it is not the Qt libraries.

Yes. The easiest way is to install the MinGW package. This one includes the compiler, so you don't to install the compiler separately.
the size of the version of MSVC was too big to be installed on Oracle VirtualBoxVM.
You could increase the size of your virtual hard drive.

@JKSH thanks for your reply!
I will try it with MinGW!
Yes resizing the virtual hard drive is also an idea! But first, I want to try MinGW!

MinGW works fine! Thanks again!
