[Solved by myself] Are Windows 10 compiled programs compatible with Windows 7?
MeerMusik last edited by MeerMusik
I installed Windows 10 and finally found some time to run some tests.
As far as I have tested it:
Under Windows 10 compiled Programs are working fine under Windows 7 SP 1.
Windows 7 without SP1 and Windows XP are untested.
I have also not tested Tools which rely heavily on specific *GL GPU Driver Versions.
I am still running Windows 7 x64. But Windows 10 is just around the Corner.
So I have a few Questions for those of you, who maybe already have tested it:
1.) If you compile your Software with Qt (MinGW Variant in that case) under Windows 10, do they work also on older Windows Versions? Like
- Windows 8/8.1
- Windows 7
- Windows XP
If not: What is necessary to make them compatible?
2.) Are their any (big) Pro's / Contra's when building / compiling Software under Windows 10?
I must admit, that for the first time in years, I am not fully up2date with the changes in Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10. As soon as I saw the Design of / found the first Infos about it, I completely ignored every Windows News, that had nothing todo with Win7.
Thanks and have a great weekend :)
