Solved Can't install Qt - connection refused during installation
-
Hey everyone!
I'm required to use Qt as part of my job. So I thought I'd get a head start by learning it early.
However things aren't off to a great start as I can't even install it!I'm using the Qt Unified Installer by selecting the "Community" option for downloading off the website. I run the installer in administrator mode. I've created an account (obviously since I'm posting here) but as soon as it gets past my login details I'm presented with the following error:
"Network error while downloading "https://download.qt.io/online/qtsdkrepository/windows_x86/root/qt/Updates.xml?uid=55515bb0c1c70201000cfbda&3518190': Connection refused."I'm running Windows 7 64-Bit. Any ideas?
Thanks!Edit: I've noticed I'm getting a Connection Refused whenever I try to download any file from download.qt.io. Is this an issue with their CDN or something?
Edit2: It resolved itself. All I need was leave it until the next day, tried again and it worked fine.

Hi and welcome to devnet,
Did you try to access download.qt.io directly through a web browser ? Do you have maybe a firewall rule that is blocking the access ?
In between, maybe the offline installer might be an alternative
-
Looks like their might have been a network problem with download.qt.io
-
Sounds like a CDN issue. Is it still there?
I know there has been work going on due to the online installer needing a 'skip login' button, this might be related.
-
@tekojo Thankfully the issue resolved itself overnight. I just tried installing the next day and it went ahead without any issues. Makes me assume further that it may have been a problem on their side. Just strange that it happened directly after making an account, that's all.

This issue still exists. Installer is able to collect the online meta information only once each day. If you clicked back button or network failed in between, you cannot download Qt any time same day. and changing system date doesn't help... Please fix the installer.

Hi,
You should try changing the mirror used by the installer. You might be hitting a faulty one.
-
any help because i have the same problem ...!!!!
-
Hi and welcome to devnet,
Did you try what I suggested ?
-
Have the same problem. The web installer is stuck at 23% and says "Connection refused" and does not install Qt.
Will try again tomorrow in hopes that @LeafyRhythm solution works.
@SGaist how do you change the mirror? The installer settings do not enable this.. -

Hi, see https://forum.qt.io/topic/43349/slow-downloads-with-the-online-installer-try-this-tool

I have the same problem, i have checked the latest online and offline installers, thay show "Server internal error." on the "log in" wizard step/page. I wrote to support as technical problem, they even not send to e-mail auto-response that the problem/internal ticket #XXX was created. I think they make a problem intentionally, because I checked commercial - and no problems.

Commercial downloads go through a different server by default.
Open source users can pick a different server (mirror) too: https://wiki.qt.io/Online_Installer_4.x#Selecting_a_mirror_for_opensource
