Android & mySQL

  • Hi, I'm developing a small app, which needs to connect to a mySQL remote server. Debugging on my desktop (Linux mint 17) it works fine. When I try to build it for android and deploy to phone i get the following message and it doesn't work:

W/ 4531): (null):0 ((null)): QSqlDatabase: QMYSQL driver not loaded
W/ 4531): (null):0 ((null)): QSqlDatabase: available drivers: QSQLITE

So.. the question is how do i connect to a mysql server from an android app ? Is it possible ? Thanks

    Hi and welcome to devnet,

Please search the forum a bit, that question has already been answered several times. Short version: you first have to build the MariaDB client library for Android (There's no native MySQL client library) and then you can build the MySQL plugin. However depending on your needs you might better access the data you need through a web service rather that opening the access to your database server.

  • Thank you, I already tried it, but understood only today that i have to compile it against the correct QT source code
