I see that with Qt 5.4 there seems to be a tiered license fee in order to now get all the pieces of Qt which used to be free. Did it end with Qt 5.3?

What do you mean? There have always been the base Community components, plus extra Enterprise components. Everything that was free in Qt 5.3 is still free in Qt 5.4.

In fact, things are flowing the other way round. In Qt 5.5, Qt Quick Enterprise Controls will be donated to the Community edition: http://blog.qt.io/blog/2015/02/05/licensing-of-new-modules-in-qt-5-5/

        Hi.

Ok what I mean is when I look at the table I see that left out from the community version is:

        Qt Quick Compiler Build tool
All items under Embedded device creation.
        Charts
        Data Visualization.

If not mistaken wasn't those included in the community version?

          Hi,
Charts have never been free. The QtQuickCompiler you get along with the QtQuick Designer free of charge.
Don't know if the Embedded devices shifted places though.

Nope, those have always been part of the commercial licenses:

            • Qt Quick Compiler: https://blog.qt.io/blog/2014/06/25/qt-5-3-1-released/
            • Embedded device creation: http://blog.qt.io/blog/2013/10/24/introducing-qt-enterprise-embedded-aka-boot-to-qt/
            • Charts: https://blog.qt.io/blog/2012/07/05/qt-commercial-charts-1-0-0-final-released-2/
            • Data Visualization: http://blog.qt.io/blog/2014/03/26/qt-data-visualization-1-0-released/

And like I said before, things are flowing the other way instead. Qt Quick Enterprise Controls (http://blog.qt.io/blog/2014/01/09/qt-quick-enterprise-controls-the-first-step/) were previously for commercial customers only, but will be available in the Community edition from Qt 5.5 onwards.

OK thanks for the clarity. What about Qt Web development, Qt Multimedia?

                You're welcome.

Qt WebKit, Qt WebEngine, and Qt Multimedia are all available in the Community edition.
