My intention is to put one grid layout as a cell in another grid layout. Basically, cell (0, 0) of mainLayout would contain subLayout. I tried mainLayout->addLayout(subLayout, 0, 0), but the error is "The program has unexpectedly finished". Any suggestion on how to achieve this nesting is appreciated.

Since you don't gave much code, one silly question: Did you initialize mainLayout properly ?
