OpenGL VAO's and QOpenGLVertexArrayObject
-
I'm learning how Qt implements OpenGL. Some android devices do not support VAO's. We have written a VAO class that will use VAO's if they are present. Otherwise it will send down the VAO equivalent on non-VAO devices.
But there I see QOpenGLVertexArrayObject.
My question is, does QOpenGLVertexArrayObject allow me to use it in place of a VAO? And thus, Regardless if the device supports VAO's, will "do the right thing" like our home brewed VAO object?

Hi,
I think the interest mailing list would be a better place to ask this low-level question, maybe the Android-development. You'll find there Qt's developers/maintainers. This forum is more user oriented.

Yes, that's why QOpenGLVertexArrayObject is there. It supports both core profile contexts and extensions like GL_OES_vertex_array_object.
When no support is available, it will silently do nothing. Use isCreated() after calling create() to check if VAO support is functional.
