What to fill in the Qt Creator Version Control settings for Git?
-
Although I have read "Using Version Control Systems | Qt Creator Manual":http://qt-project.org/doc/qtcreator-3.2/creator-version-control.html , I still don't know how to set up a version control system in Qt Creator using Git. Can someone kindly give me an example of what to fill in the Options > Version Control > Git dialog box? Many thanks.

Hi and welcome to devnet,
Technically if git is installed normally, you shouldn't have to put anything special here.
Do you have anything not working ?

Hi SGaist,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
If I use File > New File or Project… and choose the Import Project > Git Repository Clone template, and in the Repository > Clone URL dialog box fill in a valid URL, such as https://github.com/varoudis/depthmapX.git , then those menu items under Tools > Git become available. Is this the right way to access GitHub from within Qt Creator?

It means it's already working correctly
AFAIK, yes, it's also valid for other git service providers

But when I do File > New File or Project… and choose the Import Project > Import Existing Project template, and in the Import Existing Project > Summary dialog box select Git at Add to version control option and click Configure..., the same Options > Version Control dialog box appears. What should I do then? Simply ignore the configuring process? That's why I ask for a valid example regarding how to correctly set up Version Control using Git in Qt Creator in the first place.

If you already have git working you don't need to configure it at this step
