I am located in Hong Kong. I tried to install Qt by Qt online installer, but the downloading speed of packages is very slow. Therefore Qt online installer is unusable for me. My friends in Hong Kong encountered the same issue.

How to increase Qt installation speed by online installer? I don't want to use a proxy because I don't want to try many many proxies.

Would the offline installer be an option for you? You can choose a faster mirror from the small (info) link after the download file.

Aside from the offline installer, this message has the best guidance right now: http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/36351

        Hope it helps.

Yes, the offline installer is an option, but I don't prefer it. Each offline installer installs one Qt creator for one platform. I don't prefer multiple Qt creators installation.

When will the online installer 1.6 be released?

I think this issue should be fixed as soon as possible because it is considered as a critical issue. https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTIFW-441

The current version of the installer is 1.6.0-3, but I'm not sure the change you are looking at made it to the release.

1.6.0-3 does provide a way to set the repositories by hand, but you need to know the urls.
