Force linking when an external file changes

I need to link an external library to the Qt application (actually the lib IS the app). This library is developed externally, with another language.
When I update the library I need to trick Qt Creator adding/removing a space from main.cpp to force it build the project.
I imagine it is possible to add a dependency and force a link when an external lib changes....Can you help me ?
