How to change how "tab" character paints in QTextEdit/QPlainTextEdit

Hi,
I'm making a text editor and I'm trying to change how the "tab" character will look like when text option is changed to showTabsAndSpaces. I wan't it to look like that one in Notepad++ or something similar.
Here are the screenshots as compared to Notepad++:
