I have been wanting to develop a Qt based Ribbon bar similar to what is used for say MS Word 2010. my idea is to derive from qtabbar or qtabwidget since, at least to me, the tab bar behaves very similarly to the ribbon bar. i would simply fix the height and take over the drawing.

so in a main window i could hide the menubar and tool bars and then instead display the derived widget with the differing controls.

    any thoughts?

Wait to replace the M$ ribbon bar? Sounds good to me...

Your approach sounds good, I only hate the stupid ribbon in Office ;-)

          Hi,

Do you mean something like "QTitanRibbon":http://www.devmachines.com/qtitanribbon-overview.html ?

I checked out screenshots of the QTitanRibbon. My question is how does one go about creating an exact replica of the MS ribbon control like that ? I mean the gradients look the same to me and I bet the fade in/out must be the same or similar too.
